The European Commission is preparing to introduce the Data Centre Energy Efficiency Package in Q1 2026, including the Delegated Regulation on the DC Rating Scheme. Ahead of the formal consultation process, this roundtable provides a valuable forum for exchanging insights and perspectives on the evolving regulatory landscape for data centres in the EU.

Building on the comprehensive DC Reporting Scheme established under the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), the sector has completed its first two reporting cycles in 2024 and 2025 and is preparing for the third cycle in May 2026. The upcoming DC Rating Scheme will introduce EU-wide labeling for data centre buildings and is expected to align with—and potentially amend—the existing Reporting Scheme framework established by the first Delegated Regulation.

Join us for an insightful afternoon
exploring two critical policy dimensions:

Session 1: EED Transposition – Lessons & Harmonisation
Drawing on perspectives from the European Commission, Member State regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders, we will examine:

  • Early experiences from EED transposition across Member States
  • Navigating diverse national approaches and regulatory timelines
  • Best practices and recommendations for harmonised transposition

Session 2: The DC Rating Scheme – Building a Future-Proof Framework
As the European Commission prepares the second Delegated Regulation, participants will explore:

• Design principles for an effective and proportionate rating framework
• Technical considerations for metrics development and data quality
• Alignment between the DC Rating Scheme and EED Reporting framework

The roundtable will be organised by EUDCA, co-sponsored by AWS, and held under Chatham House rules.
